Living abroad for a long time, I have noticed that Brazil isn't well known. The major reference for tourists is the statue of Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) in Rio de Janeiro, carnival and soccer, but Brazil is much more than that and this is what I want to show and spread to the world.
Today, I'll start talking about the State of Acre ( I will do this in alphabetical order with all States).
Acre is located in northern Brazil, particularly in the southwest, with the limit states of Rondônia and Amazonas, Peru and Bolivia and has about 630,000 inhabitants. The state of Acre is one of the least populated states in the territory of Brazil. It has 22 municipalities.
The State had its glory days in the extraction of rubber and nuts and preserves part of a wealth of mankind: the Amazon rainforest.
Currently, only a small portion of the population ensures their livelihood working in rubber plantations in the Amazon rainforest, in the extraction of rubber. In addition to the latex, the Amazon rainforest has allowed Acre earning products such as food, medicine and natural raw materials for the cosmetics industry. Some examples of these products - exported to many other countries - are the fruit of the acai palm, "pupunha" palm (a type of palm), annatto and leaf long pepper, used in the manufacture of perfumes.
Also, wood is the main export of the state, which is also a major producer of nut-nut, acai fruit and oil of copaiba.

The cultivation of cassava, corn, rice, beans, fruit and cane sugar are the foundation of agriculture as well the banana that occupies a strategic role in the agriculture of the State. The industry, in turn, operates in the following segments: food, wood, ceramics, furniture and textiles.
With strong Indian influence, incredible landscapes and amazing biodiversity, Acre is a place able to win fans worldwide. Who was born in Acre is Acreano.

The capital of Acre, Rio Branco, earlier "Porto Acre", dispute in hospitality, beauty and friendliness of the natives with the other municipalities, especially XAPURI, one of the main tourist centers of the state. Rio Branco is the main entrance gate and outgoing visitors.
Visit Rio Branco is to know its history, folklore and be enchanted by the rich craft acreano, typical dishes and pastries, plus the tasty local fruits.
The culture of Acre is very similar to other states in the North. The typical food uses Duck and pirarucu fish, who inherited the Indians, "bobó" of shrimp, "vatapá" and dried salted meat with cassava, brought from Brazilian Northeast when it was started the extraction of latex, as many migrated to northeastern Acre trying to better quality of life. The foods of Acre are actually a great mix of Nirtheast's kitchen, State of Pará, libaneza and Syrian.

In Rio Branco there is a religious community called High St. -Alto Santo- (Centro de Iluminação Cristã Universal - Centre Lighting Universal Christian) practicing the ritual of Santo Daime, typical of Acre, of Indian origin, who uses the Daime, a tea made with natural leaves and vines, used by the Indians as a way of approach to God. All take tea, including children and the elderly. The members wear uniforms and sing the hymn.
Can not miss in your bag: Comfortable clothes, sunscreen, rain gear and insect repellent. The equatorial climate, hot and humid, causes heat and rainfall in both summer and winter.
What we see on the way
We have plateau in the largest part of the territory and tropical forest in the amazonica lowland. We see a lot of rubber trees (seringueiras), where rubber is extracted.
Visit to Xapurí, part of the forest that belonged to Bolivia and today is Brazil. Do ecotourism and know the lands inhabited by the Ashaninka Indians.
What they do there
They are the largest producers of brown-nut and rubber from Brazil. Populations live of the resources from Amazon forest, extracting fruits like açaí, medicines, annatto and plants for the cosmetic industry.
Acre is the land of Chico Mendes, who defended the importance of the Amazon to the so-called "forest people" and fought for this right of the population. Chico was killed in 1988 in the city of Xapurí. The city still retains some attractive linked to the legendary man.

The "Seringal Cachoeira", in Xapurí, now has an attractive new addition to the natural beauty of the rainforest called Adventure Circuit Chico Mendes, the biggest tree climbing circuit in the region.
Visitors can enjoy activities such as tree climbing, rappelling, ascending trees, zip lines, hiking and cycling tourism.
The tree climbing is a sport which consists in the ecological crossing between trees by obstacles of different types.
This sport works different parts of the body and still provides the practitioner a indescribable view, because it is at the level of the canopy of trees as rubber trees and chestnut trees more than 10 feet tall.
There are two styles of tree climbing: the acrobatic and contemplative. In the acrobatic practitioner participates in progressive challenges of balance and motor coordination. The course features obstacles like bridges and nets that are placed in crossings between the trees.
In contemplative style, the practitioner makes a stroll among the trees 25 meters tall. It is an option for those who prefer to practice a quiet activity, but enjoy the natural beauty.
All activities are done with safety equipment of high quality and accompanied by trained monitors. Before starting any activity of the circuit, the participants of the adventure undergo training and then depart for adventure through the woods.
